From the first day to the last

It's official! Allison is now a 2nd grader! I can't believe it. It seems like just yesterday she was heading out to first grade, in her uniform, for the first time....

Being the diva that she is!

I was so nervous for her to just walk into school by herself on that first day. But, her best friend, Kassidy, was in the car behind us when I was dropping Allison off. They literally ran into the school, and she hasn't looked back since.

After her first day of first grade; I thought she was so big back then.

Still smiling after that first day; on our way home.

This year has been so busy, and it went by so quickly.

  • Allison loves her teacher; "she's SO funny" (per Allison)
  • Allison has grown a few inches taller
  • Her hair has also grown a few inches
  • She played soccer in the fall and in the spring
  • Allison started taking tap dancing classes, and is doing very well
  • She learned a lot of new math, which she loves. Even started learning multiplication
  • Allison finally started liking gym class, and it is now her favorite every week
  • Allison started taking weekly spelling tests for the first time; and has aced EVERY one, even the bonus words!
  • She had 3 reports over this year (with pictures), which she had to read out loud to her class
  • Allison had to pick a book and read it to her class
  • She learned many new classroom "jobs", such has gardener (watering the plants), messenger (taking/getting things from the office) and sanitation engineer (taking care of the trash, my favorite), just to name a few.
  • She has made stronger bonds with her friends and is very social
  • She went to many friends' birthday parties
  • She joined Girl Scouts
  • Allison went to the main library, downtown with her class this year and got her own library card
  • She went to a farm and milked a cow & fed a bottle to a goat with her class!
  • She went to the zoo with her prayer partner (& class) and loved every minute
  • Allison also loves her prayer partner, Brenna
  • Allison welcomed a new baby brother this year
  • She wrote letters to a pen pal
  • She was in the talent show with her class (singing Lollipop)
  • She was in the fashion show on VIP day at school
She has just grown up so much this year and become more independent; I can't believe she's headed off to second grade in just 3 short months.

Here are some pictures of her this morning, on her way to her last day of first grade.
Still a diva!

Look at that attitude!

I don't have any pictures of her leaving school like on the first day because she was crying. I took an early lunch so I could go get her from school (half day) and took her to Amie's. As soon as she saw me she started crying and running towards me. As she got closer, the tears got bigger. She was sobbing, and I mean, trying to catch her breath sobbing. She was so upset; she didn't want to leave school and didn't want to leave her teacher. We both love her teacher this year; she's just been great and makes everything so much fun. I was crying, too..to see her cry like that, plus it's always sad to leave an awesome teacher. It took me awhile to get her calmed down and settled in at Amie's. I hated to leave her because she was so upset. I'm sure as the summer goes on, she'll get better and will enjoy her days off. Hopefully she'll continue to love school this much!
Until next time.
